Mitchell A. Watsky recently joined Georgia Regents University in Augusta, Georgia as the founding Dean of the Graduate School and Professor of Cell Biology and Anatomy. Dr. Watsky received his B.S. from Emory University and his PhD from the Medical College of Wisconsin. After completing a fellowship at the Mayo Foundation in Rochester, MN, Dr. Watsky joined the University of Tennessee Health Science Center faculty in 1992 as an Assistant Professor and rose to the rank of Professor before moving to Georgia Regents University.
Dr. Watsky is NIH funded and has an extensive publication record with research interests in the fields of corneal physiology and wound healing, electrophysiology, bioengineered tissues, and the pathogenesis of fibrotic diseases. While at UTHSC, Dr. Watsky lectured in the Colleges of Medicine, Dentistry, and Graduate Health Sciences. Dr. Watsky served for more than a decade as the Physiology Graduate Program Director and as a member of the UTHSC Graduate Studies council, and served as Associate Dean for Graduate Studies (College of Medicine) from 2009-2012.
